Our Vision
Musical Theatre has the ability to entertain, educate, connect, and change the world, regardless of whether you are a spectator, producer, or participant.
We believe that The Regals Musical Society is a conduit by which we can grow as individuals, come together as a community, and create a better world. We believe in the inherent dignity of all peoples, the right to be heard, be seen, and belong.
We help our community develop life skills, confidence, community & connection.
Our Mission
– Produce Quality Musical Theatre, through which we develop the next generation of artists, administrators, and crew;
– Provide an accessible entry point for amateurs, and those without musical theatre experience (regardless of age, background, etc), whether on stage or in the audience
– Promote connection and sense of community within the area in which we perform,
– Present diversity of ideas and beliefs, by programming something different from what other musical theatre societies are doing (a healthy mix of new works, premiers, new points of view, alongside treasured classics)
– Partner with community leaders, small businesses, nonprofit organisations, and more in the area in which we perform, to foster community, and a shared sense of ownership in the outcomes of our mission
Our Values
Community – forgoing connections, that help us become more resilient, that enhance ideas, cultivate empathy, and working together towards a common goal
Courage – the ability to do something that is difficult or scary, even if it means facing danger or uncertainty
Accessibility – the provision of flexibility to accommodate each user’s needs and preferences. [for me, this is important, and speaks to the accessibility of the shows we choose – we want each production to be something that can be enjoyed by all people]
Excellence & Personal Growth – Excellence is striving to do more and be great even if that means making errors along the way. The effort, will and desire to learn is excellence. We strive for excellence as a society, and as individual members, we embrace Personal Growth – becoming more aware of ourselves and changing to become the people we want to be.
Dignity (Equality & Inclusivity) – the belief that all people hold a special value that’s tied solely to their humanity. It has nothing to do with their class, race, gender, religion, abilities, or any other factor other than them being human. We practice Dignity through Equality (fairness) and Inclusivity (diversity by embracing uniqueness – all are welcome)
